About the event
Join singer-songwriter Yawar Abdal and his band for an evening of music, concluding their residency at Oddbird Theatre from 10–14 November.
Drawing from Kashmiri, Persian and Urdu poetry, Yawar’s music combines Sufi and Qawwali influences with contemporary composition and sound.
Working with material from his EP Soz and his existing repertoire, Yawar is exploring how his music can take shape as a cohesive theatrical experience. Songs and stories of love, longing, separation and spiritual searching come together in a musical journey, with transitions and moments of silence creating space for listeners to enter and linger in the world of the songs.
This work-in-progress sharing offers audiences a chance to experience the live format developed during the residency, ahead of its presentation at Journeying Across the Himalayas (JATH) 2026 in December.
Part of the ongoing performing arts programme in collaboration with Royal Enfield Social Mission.
