About the event

By Sushma Soma, with Debbie Hannan and Aditya Prakash

foreverest is a live multimedia gig-theatre production bringing together music, myth, storytelling and video to explore grief, our connection to mountains, and finding joy alongside loss.

In May 2023, Sushma Soma’s husband, Shri, fulfilled his dream of summiting Everest - but did not return from the mountain. In the aftermath, Sushma, an accomplished singer, lost her voice. Her return to writing and music led to THE MOUNTAIN HAS THE LAST SAY, an EP of five original songs tracing loss, despair and a path towards healing.

Born from this music, foreverest weaves footage and sound from Shri’s final climb with research and present-day interviews. With Everest as a central presence, it explores grief, our connection to mountains, and the possibility of living with joy alongside wounds that may never fully heal.

Join us at Oddbird Theatre for the India Preview.
