Tipriti: My Sonic Identity

Part of the Friends of Oddbird Theatre Festival 2025, vocalist Tipriti Kharbangar traced her roots through song, voice, and the Khasi language in a folk set accompanied by the duitara.

13 September 2025

Renowned Khasi folk and blues artist Tipriti Kharbangar took audiences on a sonic journey through story and song. Best known as the powerhouse vocalist of the band Soulmate, in this show, Tipriti turned inward, drawing on her lived experiences and her ancestral connection to the Khasi language. Blending contemporary folk sensibilities with the timeless sound of the duitara, she presented an intimate set that carried both raw emotion and lyrical depth. At once personal and collective, the performance reflected on what it means to hold on to language, memory, and spirit in a changing world.
