The Chinky Express Comes to Town - Aseng Borang
A fearless solo which unpacked identity, belonging, and the everyday prejudice faced by people from Northeast India in so-called “mainland” spaces. Winner of PECDA 2018.

Collecting the labels thrown her way, Aseng Borang decided to turn them into spectacle – quite literally. Using the format of a circus, she played with the absurdity of being watched, pulling the audience in with theatricality before revealing something much closer to reality. To summarise, it was a dance solo that turned the act of being watched into a statement.
