OddLab: Anatomy of Belief - Mandeep Raikhy
OddLab was an initiative to make experimental dance pieces accessible to curious audiences.
4 October 2019
How do we pray? How do our bodies perform belief? Responding to an environment of growing intolerance, this movement piece delved into 4 universally familiar gestures of praying - bowing, kneeling, lowering the forehead to the floor and bringing the palms together. By breaking down these gestures in time and dispersing them through space, an embodied case for the secular was made. Herein the audience was invited to explore the performative language of belief.
