Kallo - A Dramatised Reading by Fouzia Dastango
A dramatic reading of a story about two women brought together by fate in pre-partition India.
28 September 2019
Set in a small UP town in pre-partition India, Kallo was a story about two women rejected by society who found solace in each other. The protagonists - Kallo & Mushtari Bano - rediscover meaning in their lives after they begin living together. Written by Urdu author Sameena Nazeer, this tale is reminiscent of the era of Ismat Chughtai which similarly explored female desire as it played out.
