Am I Lost? by Mohd. Shameem

City lights, puppets, and a coming-of-age story, told through the eyes of a boy who leaves home chasing dreams.

29 August 2025

At ten, Safar leaves his village in Jharkhand chasing the sparkle of city life. But Delhi isn't what he imagined. Small against a world built for adults, he learns to survive until one question - "Do you want to study?" - offers him a way forward.

Told through puppetry and the poetry of everyday objects, Am I Lost? was a deeply personal story about childhood, resilience, and finding home in unexpected places. Crafted and performed by Mohd Shameem, the piece traces a young boy's path from uncertainty to agency, guided not by fantasy, but by small moments of care and the discovery of his own voice.
