Musings on the Silk Road - Latif Bolat & Friends

The Turkish saz and the guitar came together to honour the musical and cultural legacy of Anatolia.

28 March 2025

Renowned Turkish singer and scholar Latif Bolat and accomplished guitarist Deepak Castelino came together for an evening of music and poetry. Rooted in the works of Rumi, Yunus Emre, Hacı Bektaş, and other Sufi poets, this musical program explored the traditions of Anatolia - a land where cultures have intertwined for thousands of years.

Anatolia, a crossroads of civilisations along the ancient Silk Road, has long been a meeting place of diverse cultures - Greek, Armenian, Arab, Kurdish, Turkish, and more. This unique fusion has given rise to a deeply moving musical heritage - one that speaks to love and unity. Latif and Deepak's collaboration embodied the very essence of Anatolia - where influences merge, evolve, and find new expressions.
