Bharatanatyam Double Bill - Deepali Salil, Sayani Chakraborty and Dr. Himanshu Srivastava
A Bharatanatyam double bill, accompanied by live music, that explored self-awareness, compassion, and inner transformation.

Himanshu Srivastava's The Abandoned Gopi centres around a lesser-known story of Shiva’s transformation into a gopi, in order to attend the raas leela. He explores the established themes of devotion, surrender and spirituality in Bharatanatyam. Yet, keeping the tradition of the form at the core, he encourages looking deeper within to know ourselves, and the world around us, better. | In a world that moves and changes rapidly, a disbalance between our emotional and psychological bodies is common. The impact of this on our mental health is significant, yet the stigma of talking about it forces us into silence, lest further distress be caused. In a duet titled Breath, Deepali Salil and Sayani Chakraborty challenge this through Bharatanatyam. Portraying the intimate connection between breath and emotional insight, the duo call for living’ in the breath’. Essentially, they advocate that treating ourselves with compassion is the first step in aligning ourselves with the present moment.
